What this site collects
Very little, and nothing at all until you agree to it.
There is no account, no newsletter, no contact form and no comment section on this site. The only personal data that reaches us directly is what you choose to put in an email.
Analytics, and the consent gate
We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages help people and which do not.
Analytics stays switched off until you agree. We say so explicitly, because many sites handle it differently. If you rely on Google Consent Mode alone, Google’s script still loads and sends cookieless pings with your IP address before you have chosen anything. We do not do that. If you do not accept in the cookie banner, we do not load the analytics script at all. Consent Mode defaults are set as a second lock in case the script is ever loaded another way.
The practical consequence is that we lose data on everyone who declines or ignores the banner. We would rather lose that data than make a promise that is not accurate.
If you accept, GA4 collects the usual: which pages you viewed, roughly where you are from your IP address, your device and browser, and how you arrived. We only look at totals, do not try to recognise anyone personally, and sell nothing on.
You can change your mind at any time through Cookie settings in the footer.
Components loaded from other companies
Some pages contain maps or booking modules provided by other companies, such as Stay22 or a booking partner. These set their own cookies and see your IP address when they load.
They stay switched off behind a placeholder until you ask for them. Nothing is requested from those companies until you press the button.
Details of every cookie involved are in the cookie policy.
If you write to us, we keep the message so we can reply and so we can follow up a correction. We do not add the address to any list, because there is no list.
Hosting and logs
The site is served as static files. The hosting provider keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, for security and to keep the service running. That is the provider’s processing rather than ours, and it happens for every website you visit.
Legal basis
- Analytics and third-party components: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- Email correspondence: our legitimate interest in answering you.
- Server logs: the hosting provider’s legitimate interest in operating and securing the service.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to object to processing, and to complain to a data protection authority.
In practice, for almost every visitor the answer to the first question is none, because you did not send us an email and analytics does not identify you. If you have written to us and would like that correspondence deleted, ask and it will be.
